Media Literacy Internet Project

Hi, everyone!

This is our blog. Isn't that lovely? I hope it's the place where we will discuss, analyze, debate, and communicate (as well as 'hand in' your next assignment!) about Internet Discourse Conventions.

    hey group 6, dustin here, ive been talking about sexting a lot and researching it for another class. that could be a good issue? what does everyone think? any other ideas?

    Group 4

    I vote to discuss Health Care. That is a loaded topic with much discourse on subject matter. Terms off the top of my head that can be discussed and defined differently depending on the audience are:
    1. Socialism
    2. Socialized medicine
    3. Government run health care
    4. Single-Payer
    5. Public option
    6. Universal coverage
    7. Medicare
    8. Health care reform
    9. Free-market
    10. Oligarchy

    Group 4, I am also ok with the Health Care topic. I just have two requests: can everyone please post begining with "Group 4" to make it easier to identify our posts and can we all vote on a topic by Friday? That will give us 4 days to organize our information for the Oct. 7 due date.

    I am with you on doing the Health care for this project as we'll be able to find out a lot of info about it, and as far as communicating, im fine with here or email..I'd be fine with meeting somewhere as a group at least once for this if we can fit it into all of our schedules

    Group 4, I sent out an email an Jodee responded. I was told to look at a thread that was started...not sure where that is. As Dr. Schuster said, heath care is fine, but we need to narrow it down. I vote for the public option. What do you think?

    I think that Dustin's idea about sexting would be a good topic for this project. I think we will be able to find a lot of good info on the internet about it as well.

    Group 4. I'm posting my understanding of the terms on D2L. We still need to find types of media that discuss the debate. I think it would be a good idea for everyone in the group to find 2-3 sources. (Some that oppose health care reform and some that are for it.) We can post our information to the discussion board...that way whoever posts for the group can simply copy and paste our examples to one post.

    I think that once we have our sources, the multiple perspectives will make more sense. At that time we can work this in to our understanding of the terms so that we are not simply providing opinion, but a true understanding of the course concepts.

    Group 6, ive gotten us started, but not sure where to take it from here...i figured if i got the ball rolling someone would add to what ive already done, i need the rest of your email addresses to send u my rough draft if we are going to do "sexting" as our topic. ive already emailed it to 2 members of our group bcuz those were the only ones i could find through panthermail. any thoughts/ideas? suggestions? i broke my phone recently in case anyones tried calling, but should have a new one in a day or two. either way the clock is ticking and we need to get goin on this. -Dustin

    Group 2 is doing their project on ACORN. I think we are still trying to find Amie from group 2. If you get this, check your e-mail, we have sources and information on ACORN located there.
